Song Ideas

These are a few of the possible song ideas that I want to use - although with similar tones every one is different in its own way but I could still apply my main idea to any of them. 

Jamie XX  ➤ sleep sound

Ever since I heard this song I always wanted to make a music video to it. I think its because of the different 'tones' in it and how it goes from happy to sad very frequently. I feel as if this would be a good song to do a sad yet happy story line to and have lots of representation in it. However I haven't chosen it this time as the 'vibe' as such that i want to create just wouldn't be the same in this song due to it being slower and less upbeat.

Awesome 3  ➤ don't go 

This song is another one of my all time favourites, its used as a soundtrack to lots of footage from 90's raves. Its the slight jungle twinge along with the piano house and amazing vocals that i love about this. It was a really strong contender for my music video as my idea would have suited it very well. However, I feel as if the only thing that was missing was that switch up, that ability to change to a complete different personality in a matter of seconds. 

S.P.Y  ➤  grey days

This tune is a lot more calm jungle compared to the other ones. I love this so was always going to be a contender. The only reason why I didn't chose it is because I feel as if it was a bit repetitive, although its lovely on the ears and a relaxing song to listen to i feel as if it was lacking that 'oomph' that it needed in order for people to be gripped to it.

Need for Mirrors  ➤  slaves of empire

Slaves of empire was my favourite song of summer 2018 when it was released back in July. I love need for mirrors and none of their tunes have ever disappointed. Yet again this was lacking something that I feel I need, i think its the switch up - because though being an amazing song its the same throughout and would've been a challenge putting my idea into it.

Shy FX  ➤  badboy business

I love the idea of this song because it has two completely different sides to it. It switches up from a chilled r&b vibe with some liquid in the background to a heavy jungle/drum and bass tune. I feel as if this would be a good song to do a music video to as I can portray many different people in it in time with the music as it contradicts itself in a way. This was the song I was originally going to be doing because of the freedom I would have had with filming as its so different, however I later discovered a song that I preferred much, much more.

Chase and Status  ➤  Program

This is the song that I will be basing / including in my music video. This is a recent release from Chase and Status as part of their new RTRN II JUNGLE album that is coming out at the end of May 2019. The very first time I heard this song I was immediately drawn to it, Irah's very distinctive, deep, Jamaican voice makes the whole tune. It has a reggae twinge to it but also throws me way back to early 90's jungle with a hint of current rollers. What I have just written is exactly why I have chosen it, I have followed Chase and Status for many years and I love and am passionate about nearly every one of their tunes, this one included.

MOOD BOARD

All of the images on this mood board are inspiration for what I would like my music video to be. A mix of 90's rave culture, different coloured lighting and VHS. All of thee work well with the song I have chosen as its a 90's vibe jungle/rave tune.

Proposal

4 main ideas

Idea 1

My first idea was to have the video portray 3 people, all of which would be very different but all cross paths at some points. The first person was going to be your stereotypical bad boy - smashing things up and intimidating people. 2nd person would have been a really sweet and innocent girl who didn't have a clue about anything bad going on in the world and was all flowery and happy. The third and final person would have been a mixture in  between the two - your average boy. Sometimes goes out and has fun with his mates, is switched on but loves to keep everything calm and just live an easy life. The main reason I felt this was a good idea is because it would have had a lot to do with representation, which would have been fun to film and enjoyable to research

Idea 2

The 2nd idea that came to me was to do a green screen style video to a song, have people dancing and singing and posing in front of a green screen and then I would edit it and make the screen change colour - an idea that sounds very simple but is actually very difficult. I decided against this idea as I did a similar thing with my advertisement project and it didn't go to plan - the editing side of it was too time consuming and is not realistic for the time frame that I have to perfect it.

Idea 3 

Idea number 3 is rave inspired. I have always loved my music and the background behind rave culture, the fashion etc intrigues me. The whole concept of this video is the capture the feeling of races, the build up to going, getting there and having the best time of your life then getting home and wanting to re-live the whole thing again and again. This is the idea that I have chosen to go through with and use for m y project as not only is it the one i am most passionate about and can throw myself into it but it is the one I am most knowledgeable about. I have been to many (legal) raves before so know what to aim for when it comes to shooting. I also feel as if it is the most interesting to research as I can delve deeper into a subject I love.

Idea 4

Finally, the fourth idea was going to be a lyrics style video. I love watching these types of music videos myself and feel they're not too in your face but an easy and interesting watch. There are so many thing that I could have done with this idea as the options for how you can present your lyrics are forever and more. However I felt as if I needed to push myself a little but this idea was more of a safe option for me, hence why it is not my chosen one.
